There are no off-shore reefs in its gin-clear waters, but velvet-like sand runs continuously into deep water at all tides, making the area great for swimming or just splashing around. They would rather spend their time at the beach soaking up the sun with a cocktail and then partying ’til dawn, there’s also plenty of opportunities to do just that. Check out the famous Ark Bar, known for its amazing barbecue, fresh seafood dishes and pumping soundtrack.

1. Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park

Situated in the Gulf of Thailand is the Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park. The park consists of 42 islands and the area in which it covers is mostly water. Out of the 102 kilometers, only 18 kilometers or so are actually made up of land from the random assortment of islands found here. This is great for the resident plethora of marine life. To visit this place, there are numerous speed boats running daily trip from Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, as well as slow boats. Travel time by speed boat from Koh Phangan to Marine Park usually takes only 45 minutes.

3. Khao Lak National Park

This 125 sq km National Park now offers a huge collection of sea cliffs, hills, and beaches in addition to dome shaped granite mountains from the Cretaceous period and tropical evergreen forest. The particular geology of the whole region had an earlier economic impact, as tin was once extracted from one or two areas outside the park, although now there are no traces of this former economy. The marine areas of the Park have members of the sea cucumber group (eg. black cucumber, H. scabra), sea slugs, morey eel, lizardfish, Long Tom, giant murex, tiger cowrie, and feather star. There are also a number of waterfalls, and two in particular are quite popular.
